Profile of Sanford Holst Accomplishments by Sanford Holst show he lives the life he urges people to seek: where satisfaction, achievement and enjoyment come together. Known primarily for his books and inspiring talks, Holst is a well established expert on cultures around the world. This has been extended in recent years to the culture in which he grew up: people who were young during the formative 1960s and 1970s, and today are over 50 years of age. They have given a great amount to society but have received relatively little in return. Holst shows how taking better care of themselves and having more fun can make their value and happiness surge much higher. His
talks and papers are currently being collected into a book on the new
things people are doing today to achieve a healthier, longer and happier life. His
earlier books were focused on aspects of inter- national culture of
interest to people today. His speaking engagements have taken him from Fairfax, Virginia in the East, to Monterey, California in the West, with many stops in between. He has appeared on over 200 radio talk shows across the country. Like most people born during the Baby Boom years, Holst grew up surrounded by rock and roll. The magazine he published put him even deeper into that whole culture as told here. Again like most of us, he then went into the working world. Putting everything into it, he got a degree from MIT, a masters in business from UCLA, and worked at a series of companies, including News Corp and DirecTV. While a vice-president at the Parsons headquarters in Pasadena, he was required to attend a self-awareness workshop, and it opened a new world. Other workshops followed, and it led to his exploration of alternative medicine, yoga, meditation, books by Wayne Dyer, and even a meeting with Deepak Chopra to discuss means of improving health. Holst rewarded the company by achieving new highs in profitability for his department, and best-ever morale among those around him. When people enjoy their life, things work out much better -- this was one of many valuable lessons he learned. Financially able to retire early at the age of 56, Holst has continued to practice "living your best life," with research, writing books, and the many speaking engagements that followed. |
